Hi! Tonya M & Caring Mother - I'm from Pinellas County - center western side of the state.  Florida Mom - what a temperature change from Maine - which is where my Mom's family is from (Saco)  How are you holding up?  Are you melting yet?

Karen P - Congrats to your son - Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville -where are you in Florida? - that makes it easy to see him.  My son is on a sub in Pearl Hbr and I just priced a ticket $1600. per person - round trip - not cool!

Daughter going to HUE CITY in June. Is there shuttles from JAX to Mayport that can get on the base?

I'm in Palm Beach County.  Only been in Florida one year but what a difference from Maine!!!!  Would have to refer to a map to see where Pinellas County is.

Florida Mom - what part of Florida are you in?  I am in Pinellas County - I see the picture of your son - he is so handsome - aren't all men in Navy Uniforms Handsome???  I love those Navy Whites.  We (the Florida Moms) get together sometimes for lunch - if you are close - maybe we could meet up.

Florida Mom - Don't be afraid - I always say to myself - my young man was made from my own strengths.

The Navy intentionally makes life hard for him, to see if he is strong enough to withstand the pressure he probably will get when he actually goes underway,

Groton is a cool place and he will learn a lot.  I feel sure your son will do fine because he has a MOM that is concerned and has already given him the abilities to get thru a tough situation - remember!  he is your son - he is Navy Strong!!!  Hooyah!!  Talk to you soon - Linda  PS we all understand what you feel - by the way!

thanks navymom2013.  I'm not even sure if he is OS or QM but I'm confident all this will become more understandable in time. I'm very grateful for this forum. Today it all hit me and instead of all the pride and respect, I added fear. As I have learned for my own sake, "one day at a time" certainly applies here as well.  Thank you for being here for me today. I'll stick around, learn the language, and hopefully be able to help another mom who feels like me.
