I have a question--

Is there any way Navy mom get any kind ID so we can receive military discount or use Navy Exchange? Hope Depot offers 10% discount. My sailor's cell phone is with our family plan and I was told that AT%T offers 15% to military. Any advise is appreciated.

My son starts A school Monday at Goose Creek, is there any others here with the same schedule?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group although I was really active in the PIR Group while my son was in BC (highly recommend that - really awesome support during a very difficult time for moms). He's graduating A School this week so he made it through the first big hurdle. I've been reading this group's posts for weeks and it's been great info. I even managed to get a birthday cake and presents delivered on the exact day thanks to your advice and tips!

dbilyou - all officers who will be on submarines (except for the supply officer), and all officers who will oversee reactor operations on an aircraft carrier go through a parallel program of Power school and prototype.  In Power school, the classes are separate, but they work shoulder to shoulder with enlisted nucs in prototype.  Also, all nucs, enlisted and officer, must pass an oral board as the final hurdle in prototype.

suebal, I totally agree.  I was constantly encouraging my daughter to get out and take a break - she is a study-aholic.  Anyway, if the mail boxes are close to where the Subway is, then they are probably walking there multiple times a week and can pick up the mail when they are picking up their sandwiches!!!

dbilyou..that's why I believe the $10/month investment in the PO Box at the mini-NEX is sooooooooo well worth it. I understand everyone has ridic study hours, but my son was ALWAYS able to find 20 minutes to take a break and go get his love packages (that's what we called 'em). Besides, taking a 20-30 minute break and getting some fresh air and a quick walk really does make all the difference in being able to retain this stuff they have to learn. I'm constantly amazed at what our sailors learn and retain...my brain cramps just thinking about it!

Sierrascrapper, I sent my daughter several packages and she got all but one (it was returned to me 3 months later :().  Just be sure that you have the correct address.  Her address changed 3 or 4 times while she was in GC.

I've joined several groups since my daughter graduated Power School in June and I'm starting to get confused on where info is coming from.  She is an MM Nuke at Prototype in BS.  I was wondering if anyone knows about Prototype?  I've read something about oral boards??? Is that for all Navy personnel or only officers??  Do officers even go to Prototype????
