I know this is premature since our son just got to GC and is waiting for A school to start, but... assuming he gets through A school and Nuke Power school, and assuming he is assigned to prototype training at GC, what's the housing arrangement?  Do they still get assigned bachelor housing on base?

Just got a letter from my SR. She got her second choice for job- she will be an EM. She heads out to GC after PIR on 4/19

My son has a girlfriend back home and he would really like to marry her someday. Not sure our idea of "someday' is the same. She is only 17 and he is 20. Still so much growing up to do!!! I really didn't want him to have one until he finished school. Didn't want the distraction or drama that could happen. But, oh well, his life and just want him to be happy.

My son's girlfriend looks like a Bond girl not  some nerdy wallflower.  Don't hate me because I'm beautiful  Lol.

One of his roommates from prototype decided he was going to get married, so he  married a medical doctor during prototype. That's right an enlisted nuke ET and the new wife is an MD.

I love that.... The Winnie the Pooh bench.

At Christmas, my sailor started dating (since leaving for bc).  What is kind of funny, is that she is from the home state and met her while visiting college friends when he was on leave after A school.   I really didn't think he would date for a while since he also made comments that he didn't have time.  I guess you have more "time" for a girlfriend that is 1000 miles away.

J's mom - I come from a family of 9 kids with memories of all of us crammed into the ol' Ford ?whatever? whenever we wanted to go somewhere. I seem to recall something like wings on the back. Now my bro has 9 kids, and prob could be mistaken for you some days! A lot safer now, but is it as much fun?

My son is out of girl-hunting altho he had his moments in the old days. On Easter he and his wife hosted 2 other married sailors, and the total between all 3 families was 7 little kids and 6 adults. I'm surprised how many sailors are married.

Jarrod will be 3 yrs in the Navy in May. I just can't believe it.

You all have been cracking me up, these past two days. Nice to know we can share sick senses of humor, lol.

My son has had one girl that he allowed himself to get close to. She broke his heart in his junior year of high school. Ever since then he has said, "Mom, I don't have time for a girl friend". He got himself immersed in Sea Cadets, school and then, as soon as he could, he got into DEP. Now he's at GC and has made some influential friends. The second picture of him, out with his Buddies, was a picture of six sailors and Hooters Girls. This was after week three, lol. Need I say more.

Our son is graduating power school May 3 too!!  Sweetcaroline...hope to see you there.

Joyfulmom...So sorry you can't make it --I'll look out for both your boys!

cathy, that DIL thing makes me think you have a story or two. Hopefully your boy's book-smarts translates over to girl-smarts.

Most of the sailors from my son's PIR left over the course of Saturday morning. We were able to be w/ our son at O'Hare and hooked up at the USO which is awesome. Very few hung around beyond the morning.

I drive a Nissan Versa which I like but still doesn't the mileage I was foolishly hoping for. Anyway, better than what I had.

Prayers going your way, Dor.

I think all of the nukes that PIRd on 3/8 left on Sat. My son was the only one that left early, 5:30am, the rest left later that day.  Not sure how consisten this is from week to week though.
