Connie, I agree.  Sometimes our guys don't want to show their sentimental side.  However, when he has grandkids, oh the stories and pictures he'll be able to share!

Hope everyone had a great holiday! We just got back last night from Charleston where the weather was so nice and we had a great time with our son. We went to Ansons for Thanksgiving Dinner- it was really good! Then on Friday we went to Drayton Hall and shopped in downtown Charleston. we had lunch at the Tattooed Moose- we saw that on the food network and wanted to check it out. Great sandwiches! Now we are back to reality - snow and work. But only a month till he is home for christmas!

Thanks GBA! I do have a t-shirt that my son's boot camp division designed with the names of the RDCs and other guys in his group, so when it gets ratty-looking I will cut it apart and somehow use it in the scrapbook, too.  My son has seen some of the scrapbook already and even though he teases me about how corny it is, I think he's secretly pleased that I'm doing it. I have one that my dad made -- he was a Seabee in the Navy 1950s -- with a leather binder that he created and b&w photos with old postcards too -- it's called Adak in the Aleutians and I never get tired of looking through it.

Connie, here is what they have on their webpage.  Hopefully, this will jog some memories for you.

The proper format for recruit mailing addresses is:

Connie, it would depend on the ship number that your son was in.  If I remember correctly there were at least 12 ships, but I am thinking more like 17.

Nuke moms... does anybody remember the address of boot camp in GL? I am working on a scrapbook for my son and on the back page I'm listing the places he's been so far in his Navy career (GL, GC, BS). Next address will be Groton. Someday when he's a grandpa, maybe he'll travel down memory lane with his grandkids!

tina41, we are here in SC leaving today too. I prayed earlier for the strength to leave him well and not cry where he can see me. He's coming home in a month anyway so I shouldn't boo hoo. We had beautiful weather and had a wonderful day at Patriots Point yesterday with our nuke sailor. He wore his uniform to get us all a discount and I was so proud of him I about burst. Safe travels to all.

To all you wonderful Nuke Moms, and our few Dads, and to all the  families of our sailors....I am very thankful for your lives.  I thank God for His blessings and the freedom we enjoy in our country, which is because of our dedicated military past and present.  I thank God also for His continued hedge of protection around our sailors and all branches of our military.  I also pray for the leaders to make good, honest, and right decisions for our country.

God Bless you all. {{{HUGS}}}

Praying also for those on, or families connected to, the USS Eisenhower.  I understand  it is going to return home mid deployment  before Xmas then back out to finish the deployment.  My sailor graduates prototype in a week and reports to the Eisenhower Jan 2.

And.... I'm OH so thankful this part of the pipeline is done, and to be going to this graduation and driving home with sailor son.
