Just a little update on our guessing on membership.  24 people have picked dates that range from June 30th thru July 20th.  Looks like the membership is doing a little roller coaster.....We had been at 1791, but now I see we are again 13 away.

Must add my Happy Independence Day to all you wonderful military families.  Extend a THANK YOU to your sailor for their commitment and service.  Thank you God for the freedom we enjoy in our great USA.

On another note I appreciate any input concerning visiting our sailor son in Saratoga Springs mid August.  He said he will get a 4 day break then.  Since we are not into horse racing, and considering the expense to stay in the area, I am thinking we should fly in, rent a car, pick up the sailor and go away with him to ......where???   We have been to NYC, so not there.   Any suggestions?    How far is Boston.  Other good places for some R&R  family time?  William, being from the area how far away do you think one  would  have to go to avoid the high lodging prices?   Appreciate suggestions.  Thanks.

Happy  Independence  Day . We  are  so  lucky  to  live  in  this  country and  I  hope  people will  never  take  it  for  granted.

I feel sorry for uffda6's son but on the other hand I do not want somebody who is willing to sleep through a uniform inspection or skip several mandatory tutoring sessions to be operating the nuclear engines on one of our Navy's warships. If the Navy yanks a sailor out of his chair in the middle of class that is to make an example of that person, for the benefit of the other students. If you skip inspection which is a formation and skip mandatory tutoral that all the other students attended you are making a big bold statement. I think our kids are in the toughest program in the Navy everyone talks about how tough SEAL training is, and they constantly show it on television, but to quit being a SEAL you just have to walk over there and ring a bell and you are still in the Navy. The nuclear power program is much harsher than that. But if you show obvious lack of effort or non-performance in the nuclear training they will kick you out.

Nuke Mom -- July 9 is a great day and Happy Birthday to your Sailor!  There will be plenty of cupcakes to go around:)

This is the first year without our son home and his 21st birthday is just days away--bitter sweet, but a great day to honor those who give us reason to celebrate.  I think I may have taken it for granted in the past...but never again..

Happy 4th of July to you and our sailors!!

It's my son's birthday Monday as well.  I sent him off a package along with his civies since he plans on phasing up after the PFA this Friday. I would worry too much about sending him a cupcake. The good thing is that he really likes all the desserts there.  He said he particularly likes the pie. :)
