To the prototype grad moms, how soon did you know your sailors prototype graduation date?  did it change during prototype?

Comment by TN Navy Mom (Stennis Nuke Mom) on April 20, 2012 at 12:06pm

Oh yes, date changes, my son's date was changed 3 times and he was 21 years old.  Quit his job, gave up his apartment moved home in February to leave in March.  Then leave in November (had to find another job) and live with mama and daddy.  THEN leave in February.  So, he was home for a year before getting to bootcamp.  Paperwork screw up by recruiter the first time (NIGHTMARE) then changed rates.

Binker's MOM :  my Nuke reports to the Stennis on 5/16.  Moving in to their rental in Port Orchard on 5/4.  Looks like Bremerton is getting a bunch of new Nukes.

ummm...good luck with that...

all5roc - YOU GO GIRL!  You are a Nuke Mom...everybody git the hell outta the way!  Now, kidding aside, it realy doesn't seem right...he's already signed his contract, I don't understand why they won't honor it! A contract is a contract--you can be dam sure if your son was trying to change something on the fly there would be all sorts of noise! Please let us know how your conversation with Chief goes (I met him at my son's A-school grad...he's really awesome!).

Comment by all5roc on April 20, 2012 at 10:49am

SuebalMM, calling the NUKE chief today. Just doesnt seem right.

Binker's Mom - YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!!  I am so happy for you and for him! Tough 6 months, but the light is finally here! :)  And another headed for the pipeline...Woof!  I hope this time will be easier for you, since you have SO MUCH info now!!!

allroc - Isn't there someone else, besides the recruiter, that you can talk to?

TJL - please give him a squeeze for us!

Mary - Congrats on Air Force!

Comment by TJL on April 20, 2012 at 10:18am

Binker's Mom - Wow!  He really does deserve an award! Please tell him another Nuke Mom from KY is very proud of him!  I learn so much from all of you & hope to use it to help my nuke survive.  (What is T track anyway?)

Will see my nuke tonight - headed to GC today!  Was going to drive by myself (11 hours from W KY) but he is buying a car today so flying is more reasonable without car rental.  Can't wait for a Navy hug!

So frustrated along with nuke son,.He is beyond frustrated. He graduated HS @16. they made him wait to sign til 17(sept) Signed and expected to leave June4. Now they tell him he can not leave til hes 18 and now has a Dec. 11 date. He originally was in the 90 day rule (had to be 18 within 90 days of entering boot)  They supposedly just changed the rule but wouldnt he be "grandfathered" in??? He has been going crazy to leave. His sister is in A school and hes more than ready......

Comment by Binker & Bro: 2X Nuke Mom on April 20, 2012 at 9:54am

Got a conversation in with Binker last night. He offically graduates at 10 this morning and then they will cut them free. He said he is receiving "an award" but does not know what it is and does not think he deserves it. I told him that if he is receiving one, they evaluated carefully before they gave it to him and he needs to acknowledge his accomplishments. Between the roommate death, the other roommates from hell and the finace breakup, he has had a rough time in BS. Hopefully everything will be much brighter on the Stennis. So see all you who are just starting this trek, it does end! Sometimes, even before you know it!

But really soon, Binker will be back home here in Louisville for Thunder Over Louisville--the kickoff for the Derby Festival. If you live anywhere within driving distance, it is a fireworks display that ruins all others! And the airshow is spectacular. The planes have been coming in all day! And those near Elmira, NY are always welcome to our Derby Day party! Send me a message and I will give you instructions!

Oh, and I forgot to tell you--it looks like you dont get to get rid of me so easily. Number 2, my Little Bear, signed all the paperwork yesterday so he will find out next week if his double handful of speeding ticket waivers are cleared. Then he leaves for Basic and Nuke school in Jan. Looks like both my boys are going into the family buisness: their nukes are just a little more peaceful than mine were!

Have a great weekend all and congrats to all the many accomplishments our sailors have accomplished during this past week! Love you all
