nvmomma,  my son said he has Feb 21 off for president's day so that's a 3 day weekend!  My husband and I are driving down to see him Nathan, after that, we will see him at Power School graduation.  Maybe you could see your son then.

Kathy- No need to put ET anywhere in his address yet. That will be put in after he graduates A school; The "SN Last Name, First Name" will change to "ET3 Last Name, First Name" :) As long as you have the correct class number in the second line of the address (and the rest of the address is correct so it gets to base), the packages will find their way to your son. :)

Heck, as long as it has your son's name and rate on it, it'll find it's way to your son... It may just take a little longer. :) I had a letter that I sent Aaron and it apparently got lost in the mail. I sent it about 2 weeks before boot graduation, and he received it about a month into A school! It looked pretty tore up when it got there, but it was a nice little surprise for him! :)

Hi, I have a question regarding mailing addresses.  My son sent us an address when he first arrived and now that he starts classes(tomorrow) he told  me to put "class 1115" instead of indoc.  He wasn't sure if I needed to include his job (ET) in the address, also.  He thought I should ask the experts on the Navyformoms website!  I sent him two boxes last week before he started with classes and hopefully they will arrive tomorrow.  The weather on the east coast delayed delivery.  I hope they are addressed correctly.  So, if anyone could help me out, I would be grateful.  I hate to see his packages and letters end up in Navy limbo!

Thanks, Kathy

Dor, Casey & Sherry~  Thanks all for your help :)  I know my son has spoke of the "Rickover" bldg. where class is so I'm glad I'll get to see it.  I've been to the base once and I was meeting my son at the 'mini-NEX' so I sort of know where to go.  I will look for the "Military Entrance" and I'm sure it'll be easy from there.  Thanks again ya'll.  I can't wait to go!

nvmomma - it will be easier on your sailor without having a break in the middle of his school.  From what I have read, leave breaks really hurt their scores.  I am kind of glad that Christmas break was only two weeks into A School for my son and he shouldn't have any large breaks for Power School.  It will be better in the long run.

The emotional roller coaster continues. My sailor somehow got the impression that they had a few days off in April (Spring Break), so I of course got excited and started planning a trip. A few days later he says never mind, he was wrong, no break. Man! :/

Drama- You're right. :) Phase one, he can leave base on the weekends and has a curfew of midnight. He has to be in uniform at all times though. And he cannot leave base on weekdays. No driving or drinking. :)

A trip is definitely possible! The majority of your time with him would be Friday after 4, Saturday from whenever (earliest off base is 6, I think) until Midnight, and then Sunday. He'll probably have homework to do Sunday evening. You can always go on base with him during the weekdays once he's done with his homework, too. :)

Phase 2 has less restrictions, and Phase 3, he's pretty much free to do as he wants including staying with you at the hotel. :)

they are also restricted to a distance of less than 75 miles from base while on liberty in phase 1.

he will be have liberty during phae 1 on weekends during the day, but I'm pretty sure they have to be back on base for the night.

Thanks all for the posts and links to follow up with.  I have already gained some insight and I am sure will be asking many questions.  The Nuke boys leaving GL on Wed with my son believe their A school starts on the 23, but after reading the multiple posts I have come to the conclusion, it will happen when it happens.

Am I right? ( gimme an AMEN!)

Ok. so now knowing that, I guess I want to see if I understand. While in A school during phase one, he will be able to have liberty on the weekends?  Only asking because our hs senior's spring break is the last full week in March and would like to plan something.  If you think it's possible.

Any suggestions??
