For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

For all the California families- you are in my prayers. Praying for your sailors as well.

Right now I’m trying to think of how many layers I need to wear under my RED T-shirt to stay warm today. I really need to buy a RED sweatshirt for these MI winters :)

ShipofDoodles - I was going to mention, if you have a FB page, it is wise to keep it. Once your sailor goes into the fleet many of the Ombudsmen prefer to only communicate through their private FB page. My son gave his my email, but I never received any information, my husband however had info on the FB group. - Also, the sailors are told to make sure their FB pages are private as I recall.

ShellyMarie - Did you get all of your questions answered?

MoMom - I was surprised to see the full names of the sailors reported on the FB pages as well.

Like you said you can see they post pictures (and often times even names) on official Navy FB pages and groups. It's just best to get in the habit of practicing OPSEC/PERSEC every chance you get. On this website we don't post our names and we don't post our sailor's names. This is a public website and can be seen by anyone so we try to be more careful. And it's good practice for when they deploy. Some commands advise their sailors not to post anything and others don't care. It's always better to be safe then sorry, but you don't have to completely wipe your social media clean! (And just to clear up any confusion my son is out of the Navy now so I post more pictures than I did before.)
