OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Chipmunk on January 27, 2019 at 11:43pm: MamaKatie - be sure to read the pages in the top right - *Your Sailor's Schedule Upon Arrival to GC - shows the breakdown of their training in GC. There are a total of 3 graduations, after A school, after PS (Power School) and after Prototype.

During A school and PS, they live on site at NNPTC in the BEQ's (Bachelor Enlisted Quarters) unless they are married, then they live off site. When they start Prototype they transfer their housing to off site facilities.

Also, be sure to read through my discussion above,
Nuke A school daily schedule - sailor's perspective - it shares a lot of perspective on A school. My sailor helped me write it up when he was going through Fall 2017. He is now part way through Prototype. Once your sailor has moved to GC, if they took their cell phone with them, you should be able to communicate with them immediately. (At least leave voice messages.) They are in class M-F and then study in the evenings. They are off on the weekends, but also must put in study time as well, generally on Sunday, because of how they count the week's study time.

if you have any info on housing, study hours and when we can communicate with them that would be great! My son just got there so any info would be great! We finally had bootcamp down then he graduated and moved haha

My son just got there last week and we are under the impression he will be in SC for about 2 years?? Does that sound right? He says 2 years then to Groton for sub training...

I have jury duty tomorrow so don't know if I'll be able to check in here. I'll do my best!

Eaglemom - I don't have any knowledge of the officer side. Hopefully someone will chime in with information.
