OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Catmom I just realized you asked my daughters rating. It is STG. I did join that group, but wondered if there was anything else I should join.

I just joined this group. I wish I would have known about it sooner. I know I am speaking for all of us. That was a great ceremony. It was so great to see all those smiling faces. I am a very proud mom. My son never gave up on his dream on becoming a sailor. Congratulations everyone. Hoping that these next few months go by quickly so we can see our sailors again.

Gals,

Can any of you verify that the white dixie cup hats in the kid size are still sold at PIR for $5.00?  Thanks a bunch!!

Was there anything different at PIR than what we had advised?  We like to be current in our info that we pass onto the PiR groups~~  :)

I also asked lemonelephant in the Boot Camp Moms group if she knew of a San Diego A school group.  What is your Sailor's rating?

Comment by CatMom509 on July 14, 2014 at 2:02am

Jande0621,

I did a search using Latest Activity to see all the groups that had recent activity and this San Diego group popped up about 5 or 6 pages down.  Not sure if A school moms are there too, but it's a place to start...

Is there a way to search the names of the groups? When I search it brings up comments instead of group names.
