Hello.

I need a littlle help if anyone can...there is a member asking about bringing a four month old to PIR.

If anyone did this or experienced someone else doing so, would you mind answering her on her discussion?

Or you can answer here and I will copy it over.

Thank you!!

I had the same experience. Picked him up at the Visitor Center and then we drove on base to his ship. You only need to the driver's ID and your sailor to get on base. They do not ask for ID from anyone else in the car. That part of the base is not big and easy to get around. You have to go into the ship (building) to sign him out and then you are on your way. I also dropped him off at his ship.

When I picked up my son st A school after pir I met him at visitor center then drove him to his ship and signed him out. Dropping off I drove him back to his ship. He signed himself in.

Can anyone here tell me what is the procedure for picking up and dropping off your Sailors at Great Lakes A school?  Does it involve picking them up at the Visitor Center, then driving them where and how far to sign them out?  Where do you drop them off in the evening?  Thanks~~

michellex2,

I am relieved the Sailors weren't left to suffer through that with their seabags on their backs, but omg, why not finish processing your gate passes send all of you through the security checkpoint already??!  ((HUGS)) to you (and your mom-in-law)!!

I am glad that everyone else did have a good experience and I am certain that this was an isolated incident. I did get the Manager and Agent's names so I can call the Delta Customer Care center to ensure this does not ever happen again. The sailors had already checked all of their bags so they only had their orders with them. The USO volunteer had already left to go back to Great Lakes so there was not anyone representing our group except for us. Even though we had this experience it did not take away from the joy of the whole event. I am very grateful to all of you during the first leg of our Navy journey. Have a fantastic day!
