Hi Argal, Bootcamp is about 10 weeks, A school is 8 weeks. Sometimes they don't start A School right away and may be stuck at Great Lakes for a period of time. They usually pretty much shut down over the Christmas holiday, so I would bet your son will home for Christmas. He will also need to know what his orders will be for his first duty assignment, so that may factor in as well.
Argal. Son just finished A school. Its about 2 months for bootcamp and about the same for A school, if he starts right away once he is finished. Son left March 10 ended school June 25th.
My son goes to BC on August 26th then A-School in Meridian. Can anyone tell me how long they last? I am trying to figure out if he will be home for Christmas.

Have a great time Pam! The Kailua area is lovely, nice beach there. We just got back from HI a couple of weeks ago for my son's graduation at HPU. We stayed at Hale Koa since graduation was in Honolulu.
Hi, I am new to this group. I just made a request to join FB group also.
My son is in Meridian and attending school. He started his school this week. It is all so very different from boot camp, glad that he can call home a little more, its nice to hear from him. He graduated from boot camp on the 2nd and we were there, they all looked so great, but LOL I sure had trouble finding mine in the sea of navy and the cropped hair.
I am hopeful that after school he will be able to come home before he is to go to his new station, where ever that may be.
Update on my son, he just got engaged! Will be leaving K-Bay sometime the end of the summer for San Diego, will be on the frigate USS Vandegrift. He and his fiancé hope to return to HI next summer for their wedding.
kat16, you should join the LS FB group, it's a lot easier to get info. about Meridian and LS's in that format. The link is posted below, look for rhobo61. good luck!
HI. I'm actually new to this forum and wanted to know if anybody can help me in figuring out the best way to get to Meridian Mississippi Navy School from the airport? I keep getting mixed reviews and definitely don't want to spend $300 for a cab. Can anyone please give me more information?
ajazzylady4u - welcome to the LS group!! Is your Sailor in boot camp, A school, or in the fleet? My Sailor just graduated A school, came home for awhile and is now in Italy.
