OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

It is not a good idea to post a pic of your Sailor every time you post, so also make change 4. To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile picture.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well.

Hey good to hear from you! And yes, i got my phone call too! Just got it yesterday actually around 4:50pm. It was so good to finally hear from him after nearly a month! He sounds ok, just a bit frustrated and exhausted, but he seemed to be doing okay. I'm glad you got to chat with your daughter! Has she been liking it so far? Any complaints. We're moving closer to the midway point now, so we're almost there. Did you make plans for graduation yet? Hotels...and such?

Hey glad to hear you're doing well! I have my hotel booked, just have to book the flight! I got 8 letters from my fiance yesterday, they were great! I'm sure yours is on it's way...

Hey, just wanted to drop by and see how you were doing! I think we're all anxiously awaiting our next possible phone call and our letters! I know I am. The days are slowly moving along - I hope you're doing well! :)

Hey that's great! Hopefully they're both doing well! And no worries I'll be at graduation. I would love to see you there. The weeks are moving by smoothly...we're slowly getting there!

Thank you for your response. I thought I had read that somewhere too, but I've been on information overload the last couple of days and can't remember where I've read it!

Thanks again!
