A little about me:
I am Kirsten Mom, Ann Kirsten is on The USS Nimitz. I or I should say we live in Mankato, Mn. I work as a photographer for Lifetouch School Studios. I also photograph weddings, senior portraits, business and social events, sports or just about anything someone wants to hire me to photograph, as well as make photo cards. for all events or just because I am thinking bout you cards. Kirsten has two brothers, one older, his name is Ryan and he is 29 and a younger brother, his name is Jared and he is 17. Jared and Kirsten have a very close relationship. It is because Jared is so proud of his sister that he also is thinking of joining the military when he graduates from high school next year. My husband, Kirsten Dad is so proud of Kirsten as am I. Her dad's name Is Jan. We Have two cockapoo dogs. Mya and Mazy. Mya is Mazy's mom. We have had several sets of puppies over the years. The first mom and daughter we had was black and curly and very cute. Mya and Mazy are buff color. All Their puppies have brought our family such joy. My Husband Jan is a National Sales Rep for a a feed and animal supplement company, Ridley Inc. He travels a lot. We all love to play golf and do many other sports and go to our lake cabin.

Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
Things always change. Was looking forward to the Tiger Cruise from Seattle to CA. We have been waiting for this since Kirsten graduated from boot camp. They were in San Diego doing drills and the ship broke. Now the Tiger Cruise is off.
When she graduated from boot camp she called us so excited to tell us her home port was going to be San Diego, CA. We were excited also because our son lived there and we travel there often. Then Kirsten finds out She is going to only be there two weeks then go to Bremerton and not return as a home base. I cried when I heard that. I knew I would not be able to see her as much when it moved home ports for good. I don't know why they would put a new graduate from boot camp on a ship that is sitting in dry dock for an entire year.
She can tell us one thing and next time I hear from her it has all changed.

Thank you for the friend request.  So sorry your cruise was cancelled.  I never had a chance to do that and always really wanted to!!!!  Oh well . . .   My daughter was stationed at the Bangor base at Kitsap her whole 4 years.  The weather does take some getting used to but it is such a beautiful state!!!  We got to visit her twice and there is so much I'd still like to see and do!!!!!  I really hope she enjoys her time there!!!  Just tell her to take extra vitamin D to make up for the lack of sunshine!!!!  It does help!!!

Thank you for the welcome message. Yes I joined a while ago but never ad a chance to get back to it. It is nice to see others that are going through the same thing you are. Kirsten is still on the Nimitz. Expecting her to come get back to Washington state Early Dec. People were all sad when they found out that the Tiger cruise was canceled but no one knows how it feels to have all of it canceled or told you cannot do it. Kirsten is on deck with what she calls the birds. helping with landing and taking off. She was very happy to pass her wing test a month or two ago. I was ready for a promotion but do not know if or when she will start her new job.

annsvista7,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  I'm glad you found us. Looks like you've been a member of N4Ms for awhile and your daughter is in the fleet?   Come join the chat in our group - there is usually someone on every day. We are a friendly, caring group of moms who have daughters in all stages of Navy life - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  What does your daughter do and is she still on a ship?  My daughter was stationed at Kitsap for her four year enlistment.  We look forward to getting to know you and your sailor!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!

If you know of anyone in Boot Camp, or Leaving Soon for Boot Camp, go to http://callsforrecruits.org/ and Get FREE phone cards for them to use. Loved ones or the Recruits should NOT have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp…and now they Don't!!
