thanks battlebuddy, my son leaves for japan in august, think he will be home from great lakes around the 13th of this month. his pir was 5/6. wish he could of made it in time for australia, but I am sure he will see loads of things and places. when he gets out there to japan, will he be flown out to the ship or will he wait in japan til it comes back to sasebo? thanks for any info you have, angela

The Germantown is now based in Japan not San Diego. The Harper's Ferry swapped with the Germantown in May.  My son is on it right now and they just left Sasebo Japan for Australia! He was able to take all of his leave (around 20 days) before he left for Japan in May right after his A school. :)

My son is in boot camp right now with a PIR of 6/17.  He is in the PACT program and will stay in GL for 3 weeks, come home for 2 weeks, and has been told he will be assigned to the USS Germantown.  My question is what is the projected time frame that they will be at sea before returning to SD?

Yes, my daughter was on the Gtown, until they did the sway, now she is on the Harpers Ferry!  They were real proud of the Germantown.  Good Luck!

I guess we former Germantowners are going to have to get a Harpers Ferry page.  Can someone let me know, please.  Thanks.  Cannot wait to meet everyone in person on Tiger cruise or in SD when ship comes in.
