What a day!  I just caught up reading all the posts as we were driving today, as far as Lafayette, IN.  Finally got our "Sailor" call about 6:00! Wondered if it would ever be their turn to call!  Thinking of those going through tonight.... I know they'll be tired for PIR!  Hopefully, there'll be so much excitement it won't be a problem for them.

KCsmom & Squeakerz, we'll be thinking of you and your SRs Friday and remembering what you may be feeling that day.  Praying they heal quickly and completely and move on to be able to serve alongside our Sailors if that's God's plan for their lives.

For those who'll be able to be in GL, see you Thursday or Friday!

Thanks to all of you ladies who shared information, listened to whining/crying/joy, and became a part of our lives for this short time we spent together. Best of luck to all of your sailors and to those who still have SRs. (They WILL make it!)

Gotta finish packing & make sure I have everything he wants.

Hugs!

Cathy is correct:   MeetNGreet is 6-8 pm at the Ramada Waukegan.  Remember, PIR 6/17 families who are not on this site will be there.  Introduce them to Navy for Moms since many have never heard of it!

Also, for those in div 209/210....and flying tomorrow.  Please change your cell voicemails to greet your new sailors in the event you are in the air with phones off when they make the I'm a Sailor calls.  Ask that they call back many times to leave many messages so you can listen when you land.

Congrats to today's new sailors...and blessings/prayers to those going through tonight!

Ladies, to add to Lala's picture info. Please keep in mind...photo taking is allowed ONLY IN THE PIR HALL.  There are NO pictures allowed to be taken on the base.  You may be tempted, as I was, to snap one of a division marching by outside in their digis (camouflage).  Don't do it!  They will take your camera and delete.  So be very mindful of this...pictures inside the hall only. And take them quickly as they will clear the hall within about 10 minutes after PIR is over.

Safe travel to all tomorrow!

Just got to talk to my daughter online!  She said they got recruit heaven and she will be calling me tomorrow at 5. Only said a couple of lines to me but what a feeling.  So happy!  Can't wait to see her Friday!  Congratulations to all!

As far as I know, I think the Meet n Greet is from 6-8pm.  My son said they played the Lee Greenwood song at the capping ceremony and that it was very emotional.  That song gets me every time. Have a safe trip!!

Remind me what time the meet and greet is???/  I will be driving all day tomorrow and I am hoping to get there in time!  I would love to meet everyone!  This site has been a blessing.....I will check back now and again to see how some of the RCU sailors are doing; I hope to see them all become sailors!  I sure hope they don't play the Lee Greenwood song at graduation because I start boo-hooing just thinking about it!!  Gotta go pack up the car...Life is good!

I may have posted this already but I don't think so. Anyway, here is some info for taking pics at PIR. If you are using a digital camera taking some practice pictures when you get in the PIR hall. Change the settings until you get the best pics for the lighting and environment. You will have lots of time on your hands anyway while you wait and your pictures will turn out much better. You will be glad you did it.

diannep: You were right the"'sailors" can not talk about Battlestations.  He was tired, been up since 5am yesterday. We do not have much time with him. We will make the most of the time we do have. On to Groton.

I will miss you ladies, but life does move on and moves us in different directions. There will be more friends to "chat" with, more issues to deal with and not all will be solved. If everyone here gets out of work on time we will try to be at the Ramada Meet and Greet.
