For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

ellen0502, I'm concerned about my SR as I have sent news clippings, comics and fat letters. I hate the thought that I might have subjected him to discipline. See excerpt from "Letter Writing & Fun Stuff..." page:
Some RDC’s will give IT (Intensive Training—extra exercises) for colored envelopes and stickers on the outside of envelopes and others don’t care. If the division or your recruit needs extra help to be ready for the PFA, then the RDC is going to look for every opportunity to give IT so that everyone makes it to PIR. If your recruit indicates that you should write in a particular color of ink or tells you not to send something, then pay attention and let others who are writing him/her (and those in your PIR group as well) know. Do avoid using red ink when you write; there is a red light on at night and if your recruit decides to read a letter before going to sleep (even though they aren’t supposed to), s/he will have difficulty reading red ink. You want to avoid sending anything that will require extra postage because that is a red flag and your SR may have to open the letter/card in front of the RDC

Even if what you have sent (above listing) is not "approved" by his RDCs, a little IT won't hurt. :)
Not to worry, but I would stop sending news clippings, the Navy likes to be the one to inform during BC. Comics are probably fine, but would suggest scanning them to regular paper before sending, and fat letters are just that fat letters, which may have to be opened in front of the RDC, but that's as far as it will probably go.

In phone call yesterday my son said that the news articles were taken away but he had a chance to read them first. He said they were placed with his other belongings that will be returned to him when he leaves for A School. BTW the stories were computer hardware and phone technology stories in the business pages. Future letters will not have such enclosures. I will keep the extras to comics and jokes, maybe some photos. Actually the thing he misses most is music. And I know that's a no-no.

The first two phone calls I received from him and most of the letters I have received so far said he hated it and wanted to come home He is so homesick I got a phone call from him today and he sounds much better Prayers and having faith works miracles!!!

If he has made it this far, then he's passed some tests that others haven't. Assure him that he can and will make it through BC and that A School is within reach.

My son called this afternoon. Mentioned a Facebook page I should like so his group might get photo posted during upcoming blood drive. ASB or ASP Great Lakes? I didnt find any such page. Can any of you help me find it? Thanks
