Pacific Grove is right next to MONTEREY. An out of this world breakfast is at Alioto's on the main street in Pacific Grove. My son went there almost every Saturday while in school.  (Monterrey is in Mexico)

@Dee: how great that Spencer has completed a 6 year CTI contract! I am sure he will have lots of opportunities in the civilian sector with what he has learned/achieved. Are they going to stay in Hawaii? BTW, where were the places to eat in Monterrey that you had suggested earlier? They have a 4 day weekend, there; not sure whether to try to swing going in May to see my son, or wait until July 4th weekend....both times will probably be really busy times in Monterrey! Did anyone go see the Acquarium there?

Last I heard from his sister, he was reviewing English at the beginning of "classing up"....before he actually begins his language....I don't think things can be so bad, considering that he can begin each day with blueberry pancakes and Mountain Dew!

@NCRican and KC'sMOM: I am NOT texting my son everyday while he is in Monterrey! As the kid (young man) is acting like he just does not want a "goodnite" or text each evening! Upsetting, as I spent $52 on that taxi cab ride to deliver his cell phone to O'Hare at the beginning of the month! He did send me a text informing me that he is busy all day, and given extra duties 24/7 so, maybe that is it.

@KC's mom: haven't been on here in awhile!!! What great news that your son is back in the US! And it would be great if you could see him!!!

Congratulations! Do you think he will use his language in a civilian job?

Happy for you, KC's Mom.  I am thankful he is back safely on American soil!

That is great news KC's mom. Must be such a relief. My son has applied for summer language course and is suppose to be right here in TX. We are hoping he gets approved for it. It will be a month long and he should be able to take a day to come home and attend my daughter's HS graduation. Pretty excited about that. Sailors seem to just be studying all the time. Learning and training never ceases. After school they study for promotion, they study for their career field badge and for college courses and for the DLPT. It never seems to end.
