Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Does anyone know if we can purchase challenge coins anywhere up there or would we need to get them online?

Comment by diannep on March 7, 2015 at 12:23am: Mamabear: RTC wants you all to practice OPSEC and wants you to consider BattleStations, where they will be tested on all that could occur when deployed, as "ship movement". That means, no discussion of dates prior to anything happening. It is not an actual security issue, since Battlestations are run usually around the same weekdays each week....it is more of a practice situation. I used to be able to post a BattleStations schedule back in 2010 and even part of 2011, but RTC asked us to stop doing that for the reason I mentioned. If you call them, they will not be able to tell you BattleStations dates for your SRs. The date really has to come directly from your SR to you.....the same as when your SR is a sailor and lets you know about upcoming deployment dates/places, etc....communication is not to be public, but rather kept private for the safety of our sailors.

The date matters only because of and we have set up through work and the person house/pet sitting for us. It's just so last minute if for some reason she doesn't pass her run or Battlestations. Just getting anxious to hear from her.

If you hear anything from your son would you please PM me? I would appreciate it. We havn't heard from her since February 2nd.

Just a reminder, ladies, that we cannot post specific dates for divisions going through BattleStations on here. RTC has asked us not to, but you CAN private message a date to someone else. We can post once they are finished when you are expecting calls that day!
