For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

In the event of an emergency within the sailor’s family, where you feel the sailor must be notified and considered for Emergency Leave, you must notify the American Red Cross through the national headquarters in Washington, DC (1-877-272-7337) or via their website www.redcross.org.

Hi creolemommy - basically they either receive BAH to live on their own in town OR they receive living quarters from the Navy - one or the other. If he is receiving BAH then he is not permitted to live on the ship or in the barracks. If he is not receiving BAH he can request permission to live in town but as singing mom said even if he chooses to do that he won't just get BAH - he has to be married (any rank married receives BAH) or an E-5 and above to receive BAH. So if he is, say an E-2 and wants to live in town he will not receive additional housing allowance because he wants to live in town, he will have to pay his rent and bills out of his salary. As singingmom said, his command will answer all of his questions and tell him everything he needs to know when he checks in.

I went to the Truman website and found the email address for the ombudsman, but when I emailed them they bounced back....tried 3 different email addresses & none of them worked. Anyone have a good email for the Truman ombuds?

I spoke to my son's gf a few minutes ago and she had the ombudsman info for me. My son has put gf, his dad and me on the list for emails, etc. Also have her phone number so I am feeling better. I knew he had planned on doing that but was not sure he had done it yet. Yeah.

Reading over my last post I can see so many typos. We are having so much trouble with our internet connection on my desk top and when I use my I phone to post I miss so many of my typos or auto corrects. We will be upgrading the router and with any luck all will be better. My husband has a home office and we have to have DSL. My sailor has my laptop as his desk top is too big to have at this time. Hope all have a great weekend. Going back to the 30's here with highs in the 50's. Past ready for summer. Give me 80 or 90 any day of the week.

Thanks B'sNukeMom. I just find this site today. I have someone helping to find out more info regarding my son's sub as alot of the groups are secret. He called and we spoke so quickly that I did not ask all the questions I should have. Thank goodness this is a short underway and I know I will ask tons of questions before they deploy at the end of the year. My had to report the first of March so our sailors got to Norfolk about the same time. My is living on base and has a roommate but has never met him as he is out to sea at this time. Just hoping my son remembered to lock everything up before he left today since he does not know when roommate will return and has not met him. I read about too much theft.
