thankyou tysmom!!! we are going to stay in cottages for Seven nights then fly to two more islands with our sailor... thank s again for your response very helpful i appreciate it. cant wait to go. Take care

I have stayed there....very nice and away from the busyness of the city. You can divide your stay between the motel there and the cottages. Certain arrival times are in place and you MUST have a federal background check...your sailor has to sponsor you. You get a yellow card and then you can come and go without him. There are grills you can use and some come equipped with dishes etc. Some restrictions apply to what you can cook where. Your sailor can take you to the commissary to purchase food, the prices are close to at home, well kinda. There are farmers markets where you can buy locally grown food as well as a beef farm down the road a bit.

That is just heartbreaking news, I am so sorry for all involved. Can't imagine how difficult this will be for so many affected by the tragedy. Hiking is a favorite pastime for our son and many of these Sailors. My prayers and thoughts are go out to his family and all his buddies.

FYI: Further info on the sailor can be found on KHON2. It is a local Honolulu TV station.

So tragic.....praying for the family and the sailors of his boat. You go on a hike, you expect to come back.Sad...

Please keep in your prayers the family from Florida, of the young sailor that died in Hawaii on Sunday afternoon, while hiking with his friends on the Pali Notches Trail. Such a senseless, tragedic accident.

That's a cool photo Kevsmom93!  Thanks for sharing it with us!  Hawaii is a great vacation place, and worth going to visit.  Sounds like you had a great vacation and birthday I SMILE 2011.  Tysmom sent you a private message.  Not sure how to get in touch with the ombudsmen.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Ismile, everything about Hawaii is fabulous. The breathe of life is a fantastic show. I wished you could take pics but I understand why you can't. The Culture Center is a wonderful place too.
