Kimberly P that's what our son's friends told us about lack of contact.  They said it was hard to know of all the stuff they are missing and can't be there for.  If they don't call they don't know as much and don't think about it as much and avoid the homesickness.   Helps to understand but doesn't help with the missing them and hearing all the stuff they are doing.

djk's Mom - What japan sites are you talking about?  I follow the USSGW page.  What are the others?

Loving the activity...@NavyMomandNavyChiefsWife my son will also be transferring to the Reagan. This decision adds 1 more year to his Japan duty.  We're hoping to see him when they dock in San Diego this summer.

My SOn was also home for Easter!

@joshmom I am so happy your son was able to come home for a visit! My son was able to finally come home for two weeks this month too. He hadn't been home in over 2 years!!!

your sailor should be able to tell you when they will be able to give you a general idea as to when they will be there. Does anyone belong to any of the japan facebook sights?? They are also very informative .

Wow!  All the activity is a nice surprise!  I've been going nuts, wondering if my son is coming back with the boat or not!  Us moms definitely need to go to Virginia when the ship comes in!  Since we're never told when they are arriving in port, I have no idea how to get that information.  We need to be able to plan ahead, to get time off work.  If any of you know how to get that coordinated, please respond!

Ironically my son is going to Virginia too, just at a different base. His first orders got cancelled so I have been praying frantically that didn't happen again. All I got was a Facebook message this morning saying I got my paper orders! With no dates or anything. Typical for him. if it wasn't for Facebook messenger I would have lost my mind by now. It's our only means of communication unless he's deployed and then it's email. But my husband who was also Navy says that the more he thought about home the more homesick he was so he thinks our son is just trying to stay focused and not miss us and that's why he never calls.

I woke up to a message from my son that no one E-4 or below are allowed to drink on the GW till further notice. Guess their are some unhappy Sailors today!

Good morning, I joined the group yesterday. My sons PIR was 10/3 and he has been on the GW since the beginning of Dec. Didn't see much activity when I looked on here, glad to see comments =)
