N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Georgia Girl,

My son is also Ship 12 div 208. We are also originally from Georgia. although we live in north florida now. we will be driving to graduation. I am assuming that you will be as well with dogs. lol. I have not had a phone call as of yet, which is difficult. I am so glad that you got to hear from your son.

We also booked at Candlewood Suites. Our SR wanted us to bring the dogs and they seemed to have the most lenient policies. Our SR is Ship 12, Div 208. I am looking forward to seeing him on graduation day! He called me last Thursday afternoon. He sounded tired and said he was doing fine and was having a good time.

Thanks diannep for the info. I booked online, but will call and ask for the graduation discount.

Ok.Thanks again I will send her one right now .I truly appreciate all the info you have given me...

S and L:  Yes, they do.  HOWEVER, they can buy these with their supply cards (issued when they arrived) at the NEX....some of the SRs may lend them their own phone card to others....and also, YOU can mail a phone card to them as well!  Saves them money!

kagea:  Residence Inn is right down from Candelwood and also has full kitchens....just for anyone else interested.  Their prices may be a bit higher than Candlewood's though....we stayed at Residence and really enjoyed it.  Used our AAA discount, but you can ask for Navy Graduation discount as well (call them directly).  Most hotels in the area offer a Navy Grad discount if you call and ask for it.

Good morning in order to receive a call from SR do they have to have a calling card.

We booked at Candelwood suites. The downside is they only have one bed suites, but do have a queen pull out sofa. The upside is they have a full kitchen. I thought this was a great idea, in case my son wants me to cook a meal. just wanted the option.

Proud mom Tara:  Book at one of the hotels below if you like, but if you still really want Navy Lodge, keep checking back with them (calling) because they do have cancellations.  This was advised to us by some who finally got a room by doing this.  But honestly, I think you would be happy in any of the hotels I listed below.  Those are all about 4-5 miles from RTC (10 min drive).

Do not wait on booking hotels....there is a Six Flags nearby so many of these hotels book up quickly in the summer.  The hotels usually have a lenient cancellation policy...usually up to day before or day of arrival.

Comment by diannep on April 28, 2015 at 8:55am

We suggest that all check the hotels you are interested in on TripAdvisor.com (reviews) before booking.  There are a few hotels that may be suggested that you may not be interested in.  Most hotels in the area will offer you the Graduation Discount but you must call them directly and ask for it.

Hotels recommended by others on this site include:

Navy Lodge (book in SR's name if you do not have military ID)

Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express....all close together near large Walmart center with restaurants.....close to the MeetandGreet held by Sarge the night before at the Sundance Saloon (lots of info there!)....you can book a shuttle through Sarge to/from PIR if you like (he does airport trips and around town too) or through the local taxi service when you check into your hotel (all operate as shuttles on PIR morning with a fixed fare....I believe it still is $3/pp each way).

Good Morning!
