Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 217 and 218

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi Everyone! I'm Janelle and I was thrilled to get my first letter from my son on Friday. I also got a phone call on Mother's Day and I was so surprised. I miss him so much. He was so sweet to think about me before leaving for BC and set up a flower delivery for me at my work the week of Mother's Day.

His letter said that it has been awful so far: saying up for 40 hrs, standing at attention and working hard. He said he is making friends and that it will get better. I'm trying to make flight and hotel reservations, but I've never done this before.

Hi!!  Just got a call from my Sr Son - Div 217.  He had three teeth pulled - top 2 wisdom and another top.  He is in good spirits.  He is ship staff.  he says they are coming together as a team and doing well.  It was so good to hear his voice  -so positive!   Hope you all got calls to:)

Hi momof10. Are you really a mom of 10? My son is the third of four children and I miss him like crazy. He said he had one wisdom tooth extracted and one filed down. That makes me so upset because he didn't need any removed. Why do they pull them out? and why don't they give them anesthesia? I wish I would have known, I would have made it easier on him and had them removed under more humane circumstances, not during boot camp.

Hi JanelleC - Yes I am a Mom of 10 - 9 boys and 1 girl. our daughter is child no. 8 :) He is my 2nd oldest and we sure do miss him.  He has always been my big helper and has always known when I need something.  I got a letter today going into more detail.  He said they surprised him with dental work lol.  They pulled the top 2 wisdom teeth - he already had the bottoms out- and took a third tooth.  Plus they started 2 root canals and are going to finish those later.  He said 20 shots:( yikes.  he did say the guys is his division have been great and really helped him when he was recovering.  I didn't realize either or I would have had the tops done too.  lesson learned lol

Got a call on Sunday from my son, it was great and he got to speak to his sister on her Graduation day from college, perfect!!! He asked me to try to connect with the family of his friends, Ricky and Russell. If it's you could you email me, love to hear from you.

My SR is in Div 217. we are from Maryland.

I recieved a beautiful card and flowers 3 days after he shipped out,I was so supprised!!

The first thing I noticed on the form letter was his handwiritting. I have never seen him write that well, ever!

I recieved a call and a letter. He said all the SR are helping each other through difficult times and that the first days ,being up so long was the most diffiuclt. I wish you and all your SR best of luck and only 4 more weeks to go!!!!

(moved from separate discussion group)

Any SRs from 4/217 going to A school in TX? Any Corpsman?

Hello :) my SR is ship-4 Div-217. So nice to meet you!!

Just got my call from 217. He survived Hell Week barely!

subhunter I am so happy for you that you received a call from your SR. My son is also in Div 217, but I didn't get a call during the Memorial Day weekend. I was worried that they may have gotten in trouble and lost their privilege  to call home. Now another weekend has come and I am hoping to hear from him.

Got a call as well, I feel very lucky to have spoken to my SR so many times since he left. The impression I got were that calls were few and far between. Everytime he calls the first thing I ask is "are you OK". I have been trying to follow his schedule but his letters seemed off, as I had it he was a week ahead but then he said he is in a "Push" division, Kind of an shorter program can anyone explain further. Is there a "Push" schedule out there somewhere?

I also watched Friday's graduation, so I got an idea of what it was like, 2 hrs. When I spoke to my son I asked him where he will be and the next time he writes to draw a diagram of the hall where he will be so I know where to sit.
