Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 181 and 182
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Went to bed about 10:00PM and got up about 7:00 this morning. Am still a bit tired from all the walking, but at least I didn't gain weight from all the deep dish pizza!!! We had an amazing time and were able to meet our Sailor at Midway very early in the morning. There was time to chat and meet some of the Sailors headed to the same A school. Unfortunately they were to arrive very late in the evening and probably would not get settled in until after midnight. His Navy photograph is wonderful! He had a lot to talk about and kept asking, "Any more Questions?" So happy to have his GF along and glad that she some of our family will be near his A school. We are greatly blessed!!!! PIR was wonderful!

Momstuy, I understand but think how our sailors must feel. They just spent 8 weeks with a bunch of people they became good friends with but may never see again, as they all head off to different A schools, and then off to different roles and postings. I know my son made some good friends that he had to say goodbye to and I'm sure he has no cell phone numbers for any of them - you know how boys are, and they had no phones to store them in anyway!

I am with you on this one.....I did leave the Boot Camp group. I cannot juggle too many. Lol I know that we had my son and another sailor with us for the weekend. They both were on the phones a good bit in the car on Saturday getting other sailors' cell numbers, facebooks, etc to keep in touch. They finally get to know each other and bond and boom....they are scattered about and starting over!

That must have been nice. We had only the one day, and his flight left at 7:30 on Saturday morning.

We had our son from Friday at 3:00 and headed back around 9:00 to be sure of lines to get back in.....we went to a hibachi Fri. evening which was nice because we could take our time and talk and eat and share stories. Then he brought his friend Sat. a.m. at 9:00 (They wanted to sleep a bit!) and went back to our hotel until noon. Then headed into Chicago for lunch near the stadium and then the baseball game which was at 3:05. It was wonderful. We are 8 1/2 hours away so will not see him for quite awhile. I wonder when they get leave and for our how long? We left early Sunday morning to travel home.
My son mentioned he would likely be a Great Lakes A School until around Jan. 16, 2016. How far are you from your son's "A" Schools and how long will they be there?

Our Sailor at A school, has not started classes yet. He did have a class about planning for the future and setting goals. Next will be some sort of briefing meetings and then classes will begin. He seems to be happy enough. The load is very light right now and his GF is close by. Talking to him is really nice. I had his car repaired so that it will be ready (safe) when he is allowed to have it. Life for his seems a little more normal....if that is possible. Right now his biggest challenge is exchanging a "bad" iron for another one. :) Enjoy your Sailor.

I am on facebook as well and have joined the Navy groups there too. Lots of information. Once we gave our son his phone, he actually said, " I just want to hold this for a few minutes"! Lol

Lol - my son has an android phone and when we handed it to him his first words were, "why is my phone so big?" :-)

Too funny. It has been so nice to be able for my son to call or us to call/text. He had watch last evening and was able to text and say, "Hey, I have watch this evening...I will call you when I am finished". Just knowing what they are doing feels so much better. Still keeping them all in my prayers, recruits and sailors.

I agree! Just knowing that we can talk or text is wonderful and knowing a little bit more of their daily activities is also encouraging. Hope your Sailor continues to study hard and make himself proud of his accomplishments, as well as being an encouragement to the others too. Smiling for you!
