While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Lilo54 on May 29, 2015 at 3:24pm: Thanks for the info. My son just graduated A school (MM) and is in T-track right now. But, he said that he had the info about his A school and power school grad dates. But as B'sNukeMoM says, its tentative and anything can happen. I'm a planner and was hoping that he could give me a "tentative grad date" from power school since it could be around the holidays!. But I guess I will have to wait until he starts in July! He had just mentioned that all the dates were listed on some paper he received. Of course, it is the Navy and they can decide to postpone or speed up class starts and stops at anytime. I know prototype is even worse! From what I have read - no one knows when prototype graduation is (or if it happens) until the last minute!!!!

Once they do start A school you'll have a set grad date and that won't change (unless something happens to your sailor - he gets sick or rolled back for some reason). A school & Power school are a set amount of class time (MM's are 14 weeks of class & EM's & ET's are 24 weeks; Power school is 24 weeks for all). It's when they hit proto that things can change. It's also 24 weeks but often there are delays (maintenance on the reactor, reactor is down, etc.). That can be anybody's guess! Like KimberlyDI said - they will be busy cleaning (and more cleaning) until classes start up!

I got a phone call from my sailor yesterday. His first underway went well and he's ready for the next one.....they will be busy as they prepare for deployment.

I've been lurking here for well over a year & now that my Sailor has entered the Nuke pipeline (about to class up for A school) I thought I'd say HEY (feel like a dork trying to talk to the cool kids!)Your knowledge has been SO helpful & put me at ease so many times I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU. Looking forward to getting to know all of you better. Coming out of the shadows now! My Sailor has only been at GC for a few weeks but has managed to get a ton of "quals" done before he actually starts school next week. We've sent him two "if it fits, it ships" boxes from USPS and in a few weeks we will bring him his truck, desktop, cowboy boots, guitar and as much of my pepper jelly as I have ("mom, I NEED it"). So, now that I'm out of the shadows I want to double-dog DARE other lurkers to join me with the cool kids and hang out!

We went through the legal stuff, like will and such, but should have had a few more things in place before sailor was deployed. I had POA with the bank, but should have done it with a lawyer so everything was covered. We had issues with insurance changes and payments.

On a different note, I am still waiting to hear from Rhonda K about the sun catcher she won. Bestie4dogs yours is in the mail.

Someone on another group recommended drinking coconut milk also helps sunburn, did not know that, I know rubbing a cold constituted black tea bag works.
