Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Oh, Splash! I am so sorry to hear! I hope they can mend her well! I have often wondered how my lil gal will hold up to the rigorous PT that is Marine- like! Is this the first time she has been hurt?
Michaels Mom, I'm so glad you are getting to finally see him. The time will fly by too fast! I hope to be there end of the year as well to visit; haven't been to SD since our honeymoon 26 years ago!
Vicki360, that is very hard to hear about your don's loss of a senior chief. How is he doing?
I am working my tail off at the coffee shop. I work with quite a lot of selfish twenty/ something that make me so thankful for the children I have raised with great work ethics and my selfless sailor serving others. Missing her today. Hope she will have time this weekend for a FaceTime chat

Oh wow Splash - that is terrible!! Did she stay in the hospital at all? It is hard when things happen to them when they are far away. So sorry!!! Ryan had a senior chief that died this week. Ryan really liked the guy because he was the one he was working with to get the rating he wanted. He was able to get a calling card on the ship so I got to talk to him. He had a rough couple of days but he is better today.
Michaels mom- I know you are going to have a wonderful time!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!
Depthcharge4- so glad she is making friends!

DepthCharge4...our daughters met briefly this week. My daughter heard Katie say she was from Iowa so she asked if her name is Katie and of her birthday is Nov 1. Katie asked her how she knew and Francesca told her that their moms talk online. Francesca said they did not have time to talk but I am sure they will in the future. Francesca got hurt in PT last Friday. They were playing football for PT and she was hit in the face with a mans shoulder. She fractured her nose and has a concussion. It was a complete accident and the poor guy feels so bad. She sent me a picture of her bloody face without an explanation and I thought she had been attacked. She then sent an explanation.

I hope they get to talk more and get  along well.

I have not been online much lately...I need life to slow down! Too much big stuff happening lately.

I hope everyone is well and your sailors are also well.

Michael's mom...I hope you have a great time in SD. Did you find a place to stay? And if I remember correctly...you have a wedding anniversary this weekend. 7/5?

Glad to hear that she made it safely. My daughter was horribly homesick for a couple months. Now she is good and having fun.

Katie made it to San Diego! I called her this afternoon when I got off work at my coffee shop and she had just gotten there 2 hours prior. BFF was flying out this afternoon so they ate lunch together and went to an aquarium then hung out down at a beach before taking BFF to the airport. Her PIR classmate is driving in tonight from the SW and he and she both have the same sponsor on base. They will hang out tonight and report together tomorrow. She confessed to being a little bit homesick; this will be the first time since she left for boot camp end of March that she has felt this way. I told her not to hesitate to FaceTime us whenever she feels like. She has 2 older sisters here and her dad works early mornings to late evenings, so we are generally free to talk to her at day's end. Her first impressions are that the weather is mild and breezy. I'm sure the busyness that is California will be quite an adjustment for a Midwestern girl! Hope everyone is having a good weekend and safe from the storms !

He is good!! Getting into "not so safe waters" and makes me nervous!!! We get to email almost every day which is nice. For a while though we were sound asleep and had to email back when we were awake. Now he is just 8 hours different so we can email back and forth for about 5 or 10 minutes. One thing I would recommend to those deploying is to go Now to the NEX and buy a ship to shore calling card. I bought a card at CVS but it isn't the right one and the ship Facebook page has a conversation between wives and moms and the only place to purchase the right kind is at the NEX. We have only talked to him when he was in port several weeks ago. He has had a wide variety of jobs with the AO's. He helps move Amo, he was yomen so worked in the office area, he has changed lots of lightbulbs and cleaned the mag. He wants to be AD and apparently he has been talking to his chief and they are going to see about him going to work with the AD's. Today he posted on Facebook that the seas were rough and rolling chairs were rolling around and lights and computers were crashing around. He said it was funny. He seems to be doing great! He has had a couple of bad days when everyone around was grouchy and negative but mostly he has been great. Our dog died and I forgot to tell my husband that we we only letting him know bad news if it was an immediate family member. My husband sent an email. I emailed him one the next day and he seemed really down. I wish we hadn't told him. So... Sorry for the long post... I guess I had a lot to say. (Another thing about deployment and care packages. The tape you get free from the website is not strong and you aren't supposed to use duct tape. Get strong packing tape and tape it like crazy!)

DepthCharge4...Fantastic! how fun to drive across country with her friend.  I think she will like Coronado. Do you know if she is Alpha, Bravo or Charlie Co? My daughter is Bravo.

I have not been on her in a while. How is everyone?

My sailor is nearly to her first command! She is driving cross- country with her BFF who will fly back home on Saturday. She has thoroughly enjoyed road tripping and seen a lot of beautiful countryside. I get occasional texts and photos of scenic spots on her route. I can't wait to hear what she thinks of NAB-Coronado!
