Cindy - that is funny that they licked out the cheese & chocolate!  I can just picture them all with their heads stuck in the box lol!  Poor guys!

Another tip I was given is to put things in separate ziplock bags within the box (things that might spill/melt/give off unusual smells).  Also line your box with a trash bag - then put all your items inside the trash bag.  That way if a box near your box spills anything yours hopefully won't get wet.

I also put a small lint roller on the list & travel size Febreeze.

Cindy - yes the USPS click & ship is definitely the way to go! (I just need to figure out my custom form online & I'll be good to go lol!) You can even order the boxes online & they will send them directly to you (including the form and packing tape).

Here's the link again in case anyone still needs it.  Scroll down the page & you'll see the tab to order.

My grocery store had the Muscle Milk on sale so I bought some packs of that to send too.  Those will be for "special" times.  Luckily my son bought all his protein powder himself so I don't have to do any of that lol!

A year or so ago we got him one of those "As seen on TV - Be Active for Back Pain" braces (you wear it below your knee).  One of the guys here at my work had back surgery & he used it - he said it helped.  My son used it & said it worked too - they just can't wear it for too many hours at a time - it specifies on the label.  My son is tall - 6'4" so he ends up with a sore back a lot.....

Wonderful ideas thanks! My hubs says usps priority Mail boxes are easy and fast to send. There is afp address designated on one of the flaps. Boxes come in s, m, and lg are pre insured to 50.00. You can go to usps.com print your own flat rate label and pay ahead of time so no line standing at PO! just drop off hope this helps someone

Awesome ideas B'sNukeMom! Thanks! Lora is good my hubby gave me the BellLee bit when we were in college. He has been away from home for 4 years now so I really don't know some of his tastes (horrible mom that I am). I dont think he is much of a sweet eater but I do know he likes trail mix stuff and protein powder drinks. The back pads are interesting..my son does get a sore back. I'll have to look into that!

Lorabelllee - my college son has a Nate Kaeding jersey - he used to be the kicker for the Charger's!

Bummer that H&D doesn't deliver to military addresses.  The Popcorn Factory does though & they have lots of fun flavors.  My sailor likes anything but the sweet ones: jalapeno, buffalo ranch, bacon cheddar.  He likes the spicy stuff ;-)  No sweet tooth for that boy (which makes it harder to find things to send lol!).

Here's some of the things I'm going to send:

pens, sneaker balls (to keep his boots smelling fresh!), gold bond/baby powder, jerkey/slim jim's, gum, packs of hot sauce & Sriachi sauce, flavored sunflower seeds, MIO energy drinks, duct tape, magnetic pic frame, sterile eye drops, wipes (hand & flushable bum), hand sanitizer, flavored pringles, lotion, salon pas back pads, ziplock bags for storage, flavored Vienna sausage, Burts Bees chapstick, plastic silverware, Imodium D, Pepto Bismol, tuna/chicken/cracker packs, Tide Pods, new shower sandals (partway through deployment), pop tarts & hard candy to share, word puzzle books, fun little card games, team socks (LA Kings, LA Dodgers & Packers!), band aids, super glue (he glues his cuts back together!).  We also bought his brand of soap/deodorant/shampoo at the NEX when we were there and halfway through i'll send him that to replenish his stuff.  That way he'll have his brand....

I gave him a journal to write in while we were there in Oct & he said he would write in it - we shall see lol!  He already had his battery operated fan but I bought another in case it breaks - then I can send it right away.

I know there is more but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

I also had him give me the 800# & the pin # for his calling card so I can reload his card once in a while (then he'll have no excuse not to call!).  The minimum to reload is $25,
