For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My letter today says his A school is only 10 days?

Eight years ago my GM was an individual augmentee (IA). He was sent for combat training with a dozen other sailors to Ft. Riley, Kansas, for about two months before going to the sand. I don't know if it's the same now, probably not. He got good training there.

Does anyone have a GM that is going to Expeditionary Combat Training or has gone ? my son was selected to go before reporting to his duty Station ? curious.
@ Shwnscrew, mine is Grad out of GL 4/1
@ Tracysmom, GM school is 16 weeks, but they have to class up (get enough to make a class) and they have to do ATT school (basics) which is about 4 weeks. He will know his Grad date once GM school starts. He will get his duty station about 4 weeks before he graduates

Hi everyone, my son just graduated 3/18. He is going to be a gunners mate and is staying in Great Lakes for A school. I was wondering if anyone also has a son or daughter that will be with him during this schooling?

to Tracysmom My sons PIR was 12-05-14 He is a GM. He completed A school at GL . He completed A school June 26 2015. He was on hold for a long time. In July he started C school in San Diego which he completed Oct 27 2015. So get ready for the long haul cuz it's hurry up and wait most definitely

My son is at boot camp right now today is 3.2 i was just wondering if anyone can tell me how long A school is i read there might be a wait but i thought he said 3 weeks at GL then off to calif florida or virginia.There is alot to read

I know exactly how you feel and have been through the I am an adult thing right down to being told (when I told him I missed him 3 weeks after his last leave) grow up Mom its only been 3 weeks. So I backed off and now that he is 5k miles away he sends me the "I miss you and home" messages. Best course is to back off and let them find out it ain't that easy to be an adult
