@bluediamond Has anyone SR who left the week of April 18th got their form letters? That way we can know when our PIR is.

Calls are totally up to the RDC. Don't expect a call, but have your phone available at all times (especially from 8 am to 8 pm Central Time M-Th and Sat and from 1 pm to 8 pm Central Time on Fridays and Sundays--calls at other times are possible, but generally indicate a problem or a need for information) and be pleasantly surprised when you get a call. It is not possible for all recruits to call on holidays since there are only two phone banks and thousands of recruits, so don't be upset if your recruit does not call on Mother's Day. That said, SOME RDC's will schedule the phone banks for for a Mother's Day call, so have your phone available from 1 to 8 pm Central Time on that day just in case your recruit is among those who is able to call.

@papismom~yes it is mostly at night when it hits that he is not there. sending you a big hug and congratulations to your son. it is such an awesome experience to see them take an oath. aren't we all lucky to have such awesome kids?

There are long convoluted explanations of when Recruit phone calls are most likely to be made. The explanations are full of "if"s, "and"s and "but"s. So much so that the explanations are a huge waste of time. Bottom Line: Calls are made when they are made. Its easier to predict next week's weather than to predict when your Recruit is going to call. Just because Sunday afternoon is more likely than Monday morning does not preclude Monday morning phone calls. Calls can come at any time, so....   The only sensible advice is to always have your phone charged and handy.

So I just watched my firstborn son get sworn into the Navy. And turn 19 at the same time. So I guess you can say it's been an emotional day for me. But I did well at the ceremony but not my daughter. She started crying instantly when he left. But between him and get Dad she calmed down. I don't think it had truly hit me yet and won't until it's night time and I'm doing my nightly bedroom checks. I'm so immensely proud of him though. He was excited and so eager to go.

Yeah, I'm just trying to get an idea because of my job. I'm not allowed to have my phone on me at all and I'm going to be so sad if I miss a phone call. He was telling me the same thing before he left and I want to make sure I can do that for him. I was told Sunday's are the days so... I automatically assumed Mother's Day would be one.

My son left last Tuesday. I haven't received the form letter yet but really haven't thought it would be here this early. I have been wondering when they are able to call when does it usually happen? I imagine there are set times and days. I have been reading on here to see and haven't found anything. Thanks. This is a wonderful place to gain information and support.
