FirsttimeNavymom

I posted a link to videos of boot camp and PIR (Pass In Review) in a earlier post. It really helps to see what your Sailor Recruit is going through. The more information you have of whats going on the easier it will be. Deep breaths and take one day at a time. That is how we all are getting through this Navy Experience.

It has definitely been hard.  I'm still waiting on the form letter and that's not helping things along.  Burt like you said, I am trying to stay busy, it's in those down moments that seem to be the hardest.  Hopefully this will help ease some of that.  Thanks ladies <3

Hello Firsttime NavyMom! During Boot, I got busy volunteering in the community, cleaning closets, trying new recipes, and visiting calming & inspiring places (church, parks, the beach, libraries, farmers markets, & art exhibits) Even tho his little brother was still in High School-keeping me busy with his activities.....these other pursuits helped me stay uplifted. He's recently re-enlisted, has been around the World on 3 deployments, and is earning his B.A. while on "officer track". Amazing adventures are in store for your boy! Being married to a Navy vet, (my mother was a WWII Navy Wave, too) your boy has made an excellant choice! ❤

Welcome FirsttimeNavymom

WE all take it one day at a time. Our son has been in three years and "One Day At A Time!" is how we cope. I have two blue candles. Wax candles are nice but they add up over time. So we have one battery operated flickering candle and a single blue bulb candle like you get around Christmas time. (Only one on at a time.)  It greets us every day and makes us pause to wish our son good wishes and pray for him. When we go to bed it reminds us to say good night to him and to pray for his safety. That is how we deal with separation

There are many videos available to watch about boot camp and other areas of training. I got this from San Francisco North Bay group that I belong to. It really helped us deal with understanding what is going on with our son.

I am a Navy Dad on N4M. I am thankful that I am allowed on your "Mom's" site.

Thank you for this.  I love the idea of being able to honor him when i miss him so much.  Mine just left last Thursday 7/7/16 and i'm having a bit of a hard time "letting go" if you will.  I miss him so much and not really sure how to process or deal with this, this will help....fingers crossed.
