My son is leaving on August 19, 2015, and reality is starting to sink in...

My son leaves the same day. I tear up every time I think about it. I never realized I could be so proud and so sad at the same time!

It's hard to believe that there is only eight more weeks until my son leaves.

I am feeling the same way DispatcherMom, so very proud of his decision, but very sad that he will be leaving.

I feel the same. My son leaves Tuesday and I'm just a mess. I can hardly look at him or think or him without crying. My son, my baby, my only. It has been him and I for most of his life and while I am so so proud I am also wondering what I am to do now. How will I hug him after the swear in and let go of his hand? Uhg this is the worst and I'm trying not tod be a baby but qI can't help my feelings.

ROXY2797, I left info for you on your My Page.

My son is leaving tomorrow as well and I'm with you "a mess!"  I feel like I don't know what to do and that I'm forgetting to do something.  I know he is ready and there is nothing I can do to prepare him anymore than I have but it's still hard.  This morning I had the opportunity to tell him that I had done my best to give him the tools to make good decisions, work hard, stay out of trouble and always keep his faith.  I told him that his decisions were now his own but that if he ever needed anything we will always be here no matter what.  He gave me a hug and said I know Mom, I love you and I'm going to be just fine I promise.  I guess that say's it all!

Your feelings are honest and in the long run, I think he'll cherish that you had those feelings.  At least that is what I tell myself.  I'm trying to find ways to get mine ready while still having fun together. We've been going out for breakfast on the weekends, just he and I, have seen a few movies and made some silly ice cream runs.  Making memories, I hope.

My son leaves on August 25 also and I feel overwhelmed with things that need to be done before he leaves.  I feel like I am going to miss or forget something.  Im not sure what to do about a bank account.  My son has a bank locally but I see it is recommended that he open an account with Navy Federal Credit Union.  Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Tessa, Notice the date of the reply you are replying to, August 12, 2015.

Son leaving for RTC Aug. 25. Proud and will miss him.

If son leaves for BC august 25, then what will be PIR date be??

Carolina, by counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 10/23/2015, but since he is arriving at the beginning of the week, it could also be 10/16/2015 if he is placed in one of the last divisions of last week's TG and is in a Push Division. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.
